The 81st annual Golden Globes took place on Jan 7th, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, hosted by comedian Jo Koy. The night, which honors achievements in both film and television, kicked off a much-awaited awards season—and the spectacular fashion that comes with it.
Barbie and Succession led the night with nine nominations each, with Oppenheimer coming in second with eight nods. Other major players of the night include Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things, Past Lives, and The Bear. (The full list of nominees can be viewed here.) This is the first ceremony since the disbandment of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association last year. It will now be presented by the Golden Globe Foundation, which is comprised of Elridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions. See the full list of Golden Globes 2024 winners here.
The Globes also made history last night with the inclusion of a brand new category: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. As the name suggests, this new award honors high-grossing films—some of which would otherwise not receive these prestigious nods. While Barbenheimer obviously carried movie theaters through the summer, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, John Wick: Chapter 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie make up the inaugural class of nominees.
The Golden Globes red carpet has also been the scene of many a fashion moment over the years, from Julia Robertss pinstriped skirt suit in 1991, to Nicole Kidman's peacock feathered Gucci dress in 2005, and Natalie Portman's rose embellished Viktor & Rolf in 2011. Last year's highlights included Jessica Chastain's crystal spiderweb dress from Oscar de la Renta, Rihanna in a voluminous Schiaparelli, Hillary Swank's Prada maternity look, and Emma D'Arcy's suiting from Acne Studios.

My computer compataibility was good with the expection of the section at the bottom when you hover on Rosamund Pike or Timothee Chalamet. When I hover on the Rosamund Pike box, the Timmothe Chalamet and Compatability Boxes break. When I hover on the Timmothe Chalamet box, the Compatability Box breaks. The compatabillity box seems to become the most broken and wont even perform the transition in these cases. The transitions seem to spazz a bit before settling, and creating an odd double border around the boxes below the box just opened. I think the staggered right left formatting into the 98% width expansion transition is contributing this since it is cause the boxes floating right to have to jump down below the left box to fully expand. In the future, maybe I would just stack all of the boxes on top of each other but keep then short, and then expand to the full length with the hover function, hopefully mitigating the glitch issue. The transition performance also seem to depend a bit on your scrolling, and the issues seemed to improve slightly when uploaded to the server. However, when I set all of the boxes to the same height of 600px and then to a height of min-content at the transition as to eliminate the extra space, this seemed to work better as far as flow. As for the formating on my phone, none of the transitions worked, likely because these transitions are reliant upon a larger display and often include size specifications for a wider screen display. The are also relaint upon the hovering function to trigger, which would be difficult to emulate with the scrolling of a phone. However, I was suprised the color change hover transition didn't work considering this is not size based, but I guess dragging with you finger does not warrant the accuracy of a mouse to cursor to trigger the transition.
